Fandom: Hikaru no Go
Characters: Touya Akira, Shindou Hikaru, Fujiwara no Sai (background)
Rating/Status: G / 580 words, complete
Timeline: Undefined future, probably a few years after end of series.
Summary: For a phantom, Sai felt very real. He was always there, his presence stronger than any solid person could ever hope to be. And for someone he had never met, Akira had begun to think he knew Sai better than he knew most people.

Author's Note: Done a few days ago over at the Hikago May 5th Comment Fic Fest on Dreamwidth. The theme I wrote for was 'There stands the shadow of a glorious name.' I came across it about 3 hours before the deadline and ended up with this. My first Hikago fanfic ever... and 555 words just because I can. :D Revised it for a naming decision and ended up adding a few more words. :p

Shadows )
graychalk: (Gaara)
[personal profile] graychalk
Fandom: Naruto
Characters: Gaara
Rating/Status: G / 214 words, complete
Timeline: After manga ch.281/vol.31-32, several months after.
Summary: Gaara remembers too well.

Author's Note: For [livejournal.com profile] naruto_contest, theme: Control. I'm kind of dissatisfied with the way this came out. :\ I envisioned it being, well... better.

Residue of Control )

Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Draco/Ginny
Rating/Status: G / 4265 words, complete
Timeline: End of Draco's 5th year and Ginny's 4th year; OotP
Summary: In the wake of his father's arrest, Draco lets go of certain things and Ginny realizes that some things are irreparable.

Author's Notes: I think it may have been one of my beginning fanfics. A first stab at writing a oneshot type of story. A first stab at writing a Harry Potter fic. A first stab at writing Draco/Ginny. Yep, many firsts. :P

Of Waning Hope )

Fandom: NANA
Characters: Ren/Nana, Oosaki Nana POV
Rating/Status: G / 625 words, complete
Timeline: Some time after Nana moves to Tokyo, and BLAST forms anew. Exactly when is a bit murky, but no spoilers for any specific bits.
Summary: All she ever wanted was to be just Ren and Nana, without parenthesis.

Author's Notes: Written on a whim for the 04/18/2006 challenge, "(in parenthesis)" at [livejournal.com profile] 31_days. It was my first attempt at writing a NANA fic - quite unplanned but it popped up out of the nowhere the moment I saw the theme, which resulted in super speed writing all in one go at the last few minutes of the theme day.

Just Ren and Nana )

* Why did this entry's order go out of wack after editing?

graychalk: (ShikaTema - words unspoken)
[personal profile] graychalk
Fandom: Naruto
Characters: Shikamaru/Temari
Rating/Status: PG / 769 words, complete
Timeline: Probably during or after the time skip.
Summary: Temari realizes some things quite suddenly and unexpectedly.

Author's Note: Digging around my computer sometimes yields the strangest things I've forgotten about... in this case, some really really old fics I tried my hands at and never really thought was good enough to post at the time. Here's one of them, written almost two years ago on May 6th, 2006. *_* Reading it again now, I'm reminded of why I stopped writing ShikaTema even though I love the pairing to death. I really have a knack for writing boring fics on the two. -_-;

[personal profile] graychalk
Fandom: Naruto
Characters: Inuzuka Kiba/Hyuuga Hanabi
Rating/Status: PG-13 / 799 words, WIP
Chapter: 2 of ?, In Death the Sun Shines
Timeline: Undefined future, no spoilers
Summary: In Team 8, there were certain things you simply don't speak of. Perhaps it was because of this that he never really knew her at all.

Author's Notes: Here be the next part of "The Paradigm of Understanding" - ah, goodness, the title is such a mouthful. I suspect the next part will be a while solely because I'm busy with work, and anything I'm posting these days were really written last month while traveling anyway...

Part 1

The Paradigm of Understanding - Part 2 )
graychalk: (Anbu)
[personal profile] graychalk
Fandom: Naruto
Characters: Hyuuga Neji
Rating/Status: PG / 265 words, complete
Timeline: Undefined future, no spoilers
Summary: There was a time when Neji had openly cursed his destiny. He hoped now that it wasn't what people would remember.

Author's Note: Originally written for [livejournal.com profile] naruto100's "Abandonment" challenge, with a bonus for rain, but I never got around to posting it by the deadline for various reasons. Honestly though, I'm not sure where this came from. I never really thought I'd write a Neji, death fic. Just goes to show you never know what I may end up writing. :p

Destiny Freely Chosen )

[personal profile] graychalk
Fandom: Naruto
Characters: Inuzuka Kiba/Hyuuga Hanabi
Rating/Status: PG-13 / 832 words, WIP
Chapter: 1 of ?, A Razor's Edge
Timeline: Undefined future, no spoilers
Summary: In Team 8, there were certain things you simply don't speak of. Perhaps it was because of this that he never really knew her at all.

Author's Notes: Every time I lie down on the bed, I would get these "snapshots" in my head... like flashes of conversation, scenes, or just brief moments of something. I suppose you can say it's when my muse likes to visit me the most. As a result, that's where the basis of my stories generally come from. The following is a product of one of those flashes, pieced together on scraps of paper throughout the trips I had to take for work this past month. Like Simply Unspoken, it's Kiba/Hanabi, though these two fics are definitely not related in any way. This one has way more angst and much less fluff.

The Paradigm of Understanding - Part 1 )
graychalk: (Yondaime)
[personal profile] graychalk
Fandom: Naruto
Characters: Gaara/Sakura (subtle)
Rating/Status: G / 500 words, complete
Timeline: Post time-skip, likely right after the Gaara-rescue mission
Summary: Actions speak louder than words. Or in Gaara's case, sand speaks the loudest.

Author's Note: The last paragraph of this fic was actually written on a scrap piece of paper almost a year ago. I accidentally found the paper earlier today, hence the birth of this ficlet. I'll warn you now that the style is littered with tons of run-on (and probably grammatically incorrect) sentences. It's also angst-free, nothing deep, and with a likelihood of OOC. :D Written very quickly, without much editing, but all in good fun. It is, however, the first Gaara/Sakura anything that I've ever shared with the public though. Can't help feeling a little nervous about that.
